The Age of Deception…Am I Being Deceived?

Have you ever met someone and the person was so nice….you get along with the person so well and have so many things in common? Maybe you became the person's friend and started hanging out with them. After some time goes by, you notice when your friend is around certain people, your friend behaves differently.

OR….

How about this scenario…”Susie” (this is hypothetical…I don't know anyone by this name) has been your best friend for 5 years. She was there when you got married. She was there when you gave birth to your baby. She is always there for you….loyal. But one day….your husband comes to you and says that Susie made a pass at him. You are shocked and in denial at first, but your husband says…he never really liked her….she would make him feel uncomfortable because she was TOO friendly when you were not around.

SO…..this brings me to my point… DECEPTION….

How could you not know she was not really your friend, but an enemy coming to steal and destroy your family?

In the same way…the devil and his deceitful workers do not expose their true nature or purpose (to kill, steal, and destroy- reference John 10:10). It could be friends, family, societal issues, church doctrine. The devil could use many things that seem innocent and helpful to distract, manipulate, or even destroy you. The bible says “And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:14-15).

What Can We Do to Prevent/ Get Free From Deception?

1) We must be filled with the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of truth, and He will lead us into ALL truth. If we are do not have the Spirit of Christ, we are not His (Please read… John 16:13 & Romans 8:9).

2) After we are baptized with the Holy Spirit, we must diligently seek the Lord and stay connected to Him. He will shine light into any darkness we have to expose the truth…. so we can hear all warnings, instructions, and encouragement from God.

Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

Jesus loves you! If you don't know him, repent and turn to him today. (Acts 2:38)
